Her Aariness

TUCSON, AZ - UA point guard Aari McDonald is the nation’s second-leading scorer at 25.7 points per game (Cierra Dillard/Buffalo/25.8).

She leads all Power Five Conference scorers and is also averaging six rebounds and four assists per game this season.

McDonald stormed onto the scene in just the second game of the season and tied Davellyn Whyte’s UA single-game scoring record with 39 points against Loyola Marymount.

During her freshman season (2016-17) for the Washington Huskies, McDonald was named to the Pac-12 All-Freshman team after averaging just under 10 points per game while shooting 47% from the field in 24.1 minutes per game.

  • Redshirt sophomore (transfer from Washington)
  • Fresno, CA (Brookside Christian HS/Stockton, CA)

She started in 21 games for UW, who would advance to the Sweet 16.

McDonald made the decision to transfer from Washington after her freshman year and the departure of head coach Mike Neighbors to Auburn.

She sat out the 2018-18 season at Arizona.

It was the second time she had transferred in her playing career. McDonald started her prep journey in her hometown of Fresno, California playing for Bullard High School.

She left that program after 9th grade to transfer to Brookside Christian High School up the road in Stockton, California.

She has twice this season been named the Pac-12 Player of the Week.
