Domestic violence call ends in drug arrest for 2 Sierra Vista residents

SIERRA VISTA, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Two Sierra Vista residents face several charges after a visit from officers with the Sierra Vista Police Department on a domestic violence call on Sunday, Dec. 31.

According to a SVPD news release 22-year-old Tony Zeas and 21-year-old Catherine Widhalm were involved in the incident that took place at 3:13 a.m. Sunday. Officers made contact with the two at an apartment in the 4200 block of East Busby Drive, when they noticed odors of both fresh and burnt marijuana coming from inside.

Officers received consent to retrieve a partially smoked marijuana joint inside the apartment and saw a handgun in plain view near the joint. According to the release, officers also noticed several items that appeared to be related to the packaging and sale of illicit drugs. The apartment was secured and a search warrant was obtained and executed, resulting in the seizure of additional evidence.

Both Zeas and Widhalm were arrested and face the following charges: possession of a narcotic drug for sale, possession of a narcotic drug, misconduct involving weapons/possessing a deadly weapon during the commission of any felony offense, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia. Zeas faces an additional charge on a warrant out of the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

Since the Sunday incident Zeas and Widhalm have been released from the Cochise County Jail.
