Wildcats fall despite 34 points from Aari McDonald

WOMEN: Utah 80, Wildcats 64

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The nation’s second leading scorer Aari McDonald had her second-straight 30-point game, but it wasn’t enough as Utah beat Arizona 80-64 Sunday in Salt Lake City ending the Wildcats’ program-record 11-game winning streak.

Utah (13-1, 2-1) had five players score in double figures led by Kiana Moore’s 19 on 5-of-6 shooting from three-point land. Utes point guard Dru Glyten had 10 points and 10 assists.

It was Arizona (12-2, 2-1) first loss since Nov. 13.

McDonald had her second double-double of the season with 34 points and 11 rebounds.

Thirty-four points is the fourth-most points anyone has scored in school history. It was the fourth 30-point game of the season for the red-shirt sophomore.

Next up for the Wildcats will be a home series against the Bay Area schools starting on Friday, Jan. 11 vs. California at 7 p.m. MST.
