Tucson, AZ (KOLD)- From the minute the doors at the Community Food Bank open until the second they close a steady flow of men, women and children are lining up for food. Many of the people now on the receiving end used to donate themselves. Last year the Food Bank donated 22 and a half million pounds of food, which breaks down to 48 thousand meals a day. This year it's expecting to dole out 30 million pounds of food.
After being laid off from his construction job three months ago, Jone Gordon paid a trip to the Food Bank for the first time. While he's hungry for work Gordon said he hasn't gotten any bites. But now he's more concerned with feeding his two nieces than himself.
The KOLD NEWS 13 team will be collecting non-perishable food items at the Hot Air Balloon Glow.
