San Miguel High School in Tucson was named a Breakthrough School by the National Association of Secondary School Principals and MetLife Foundation.
The Breakthrough Schools program recognizes middle level and high schools that are high achieving or are dramatically improving student achievement, and serve large numbers of students living in poverty.
San Miguel High School is located in one of the poorest neighborhood of Tucson.
It's goal is to integrate academics and career aspirations.
Students learn about teamwork, productivity and self-direction, and complex reasoning.
San Miguel is one of ten school nationwide to receive the honor.
