TUCSON (KOLD) -  Instead of more answers, There are more questions about what is actually going on at an animal dumping ground near the Old Vail Road connection area -- a problem in itself that could be putting more animals at risk.

Not many people know of the place.  That's why what has been happening here for decades is still happening.  Among the piles of trash and toxic chemicals are people's pets.  Along the sides of the road you can see the remains of dogs and horses. Some of it is too gruesome to show.

As we reported last month, a horse was dumped here and left to die until a local animal rescuer reported her and saved her.

It was the first time many had heard about this place, and it started an Internet uproar.

"A lot of people went to the Internet and started posting there," says Marsh Myers of the Animal Cruelty Task Force.  "They started making dramatic claims about dog fighting and ritualistic cruelty. The problem is we have not received a single criminal report from anybody or anything they find."

Since we reported the story the task force says they've been trying to substantiate those claims.  But every email to those online has so far gone unanswered.

"There are things happening to animals out here. No one is disputing that but if we don't have immediate reports and we don't have immediate evidence, sites can become contaminated and evidence can disappear."

Some say law enforcement has been slow to respond.  The task force says multiple agencies are working together and they have a plan in place to fight the problem, but they say until people come forward on what is happening down this road, there is no end to it in sight.

If you know anything that is going on the area of Old Vail Road please call 911 or 88-CRIME. You can remain anonymous.
