PHOENIX (AP) - Phoenix police are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman whose husband says he was cleaning his gun when it went off and hit her.
It happened around 4:30 p.m. Saturday in Cave Creek.
The man in his 70s called police and said he accidentally shot his wife, who was also in her 70s. She was struck in the head.
According to police, the man says he was in his bedroom while his wife was in the back yard when the gun fired and shot her through a window.
The man was detained for questioning.
