They're all different. Some are deep, some are high pitched and some even end with a snort.

No matter what your laugh sounds like, a smile is sure to follow.

"It's great and it's fun. It adds a lightness to life," Tucson Laughter Club member, Jim Twomey, said.

It's World Laughter Day, and the Tucson Laughter Club is looking to put a chuckle into everyone.

"Seriously, I don't know anybody who wouldn't benefit a little bit more in their lives," club member Tony Pearson told KOLD.

Twomey added, "We'd all be able to get along better and I think it would be a better place to live."

To get the audience giggling, the Laughter Club brought in an improv comedy troup, a puppet show and even a clown to tickle their insides.

World Laughter Day originated in India, with the mission of world peace through laughter. So far here in Tucson it seems to be catching on.

Patti Wheatley's a personal trainer who loves to laugh.

"As we become adults we start laughing less and less," Wheatley said.

She believes if we took a few more seconds to snicker, our quality of life would improve. "We'd have less stress, better immune systems, happier people on the roads, happier people at homes and happier kids."

So if you're taking life a little too seriously, the Tucson Laughter Club encourages you to take a minute, sit back and laugh, a cackle is contagious.

"If I'm having a good time, maybe it rubs off on the people I'm with," Twomey said.
