Lee Marvin Home Up For Sale

By Jim Becker, KOLD News 13 Reporter

It's massive, sturdy and full of memories, and now the 7,000 square foot home is up for sale.

Asking price is $6-million.

Pam Marvin, the widow of the actor Lee, who died in 1987, has decided to downsize.

She says she plans to stay in the Tucson area, to be close to her grandchildren.

The home, built in the 1930s, was designed by Tucson's most famous architect, Josias Joesler and was owned at one time by the late Congressman Moe Udall.

"It's a wonderful legacy," says Pam Marvin.  "I'm so glad that I've lived all these years in this very strong, wonderful house, with such a great feeling about it.  It's got such a peaceful, safe, marvelous, wonderful feeling about it."

Lee Marvin's first big screen appearance came in 1951, with 'You're in the Navy Now', a comedy starring Gary Cooper.

It didn't take long for him to gain starring roles.

Several of his films were shot here in southern Arizona, including 'Monte Walsh' for which the town of Mescal was built.

A former marine, Marvin was wounded on the island of Saipan in 1944 and awarded the purple heart.

He and his wife spent a good deal of time fishing for Marlins in Australia and throughout the South Pacific.

Pam Marvin isn't certain whether she'll take the mounted fish with her when she moves.
