Save the Sewers - "Greasecycle" after Thanksgiving

Want a visit from the plumber this holiday? Whether it's oven pan drippings or deep fryer oil, do your pipes a favor and don't dump greasy Thanksgiving leftovers down the drain. It is a recipe for clogged pipes.

The Tucson Clean Cities Coalition, Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department and the recycling group Grecycle are sponsoring a Day-After-Thanksgiving Grease Collection & Recycling Event on Friday, Nov. 27.

From 9am to 1 pm, bring your container of drained grease to any of the locations listed below:

•     O'Reilly Chevrolet 6160 E. Broadway Blvd. 
•     Pima County Industrial Wastewater Control 5025 W. Ina Road 
•     City of Tucson, Water Plant #2 1102 W. Irvington Road

The collected grease will be recycled into biodiesel, a cleaner burning fuel that also helps reduce dependence on foreign oil.
