USGS reports small quake in Southern California

Associated Press - November 3, 2009 10:54 AM ET

CALEXICO, Calif. (AP) - A small earthquake has struck Southern California near the Mexico border but no damage or injuries are reported.

The U.S. Geological Survey says a quake with a magnitude of 3.6 hit at 2:56 a.m. Tuesday. It was centered nine miles west of Calexico.

That's the same area where a 3.8-magnitude quake hit Monday night and a 4.0 temblor struck Monday morning.

There also have been dozens of smaller quakes both before and after those temblors.

None have caused any reported damage or injuries.

Calexico is 50 miles west of Yuma.
