One killed in Sierra Vista shooting

Sierra Vista, AZ (KOLD)- One person is dead and another wounded after a fight broke out at a house party in Sierra Vista.

Sierra Vista Police responded to the 2000 block of Piccadilly at approximately 1 a.m. Sunday morning after receiving reports of two gunshot victims, said Officer Tracy Grady, a Sierra Vista Police Department spokeswoman.

Between 40 and 60 people were reportedly at the home, Tracy said. During the party, there was an altercation between several individuals, which became physical.

At some point, shots were fired. 31-year-old Lukata A.Way was shot and died at the scene, Tracy said. A 19-year-old man was also shot. According to Tracy, he was flown to a Tucson hospital for treatment. The extent of his injuries are not known at this time.

Both men were residents of Sierra Vista, Tracy said.

There is no word on any suspect information, but Sierra Vista Police do not have anyone in custody at this time.
