During the winter months, Arizona's weather is known for attracting people from colder climates; and this year is no different.  Canadian visitors especially like to make the trek to the Grand Canyon state.  Tourism officials have said they expect more Canadian visitors this year than ever before.  The increase is due largely to the fact that their money is worth more than the US dollar for the first time in 30 years.  High prices for commodities from Canada, particularly oil, have played an important role in the climb.

Metropolitan Yuma's population of 180,000 has swelled the past few winters to about 300,000 with snowbirds flocking in from across the West Coast and from the Canadian provinces of British Columbia and Alberta.
