As Earth Day gets closer, our earth around Tucson is getting a little cleaner.
More than 50 people gathered at the base of Sentinel Peak Friday for a clean-up day.
They worked along Starr Pass Boulevard, picking up trash and removing buffelgrass.
Pima Association of Government's Dennis Dickerson said, "There is so much litter on some roadsides, it really causes a negative impression on visitors, so what we're trying to do is target roads that are high visibility to visitors that come to Tucson, and to make sure they look presentable."
The project is part of an ongoing cleanup effort by several Tucson organizations.
We'll be seeing more of this and other "green" efforts as Earth Day approches.
That's April 22nd.
