Tucson garbage trucks going green

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - They are seen driving around the city all day, and today the City of Tucson unveiled a new garbage truck that will help keep the air clean.

City officials introduced the first green garbage truck this morning at Menlo Park.

The new truck is powered by compressed natural gas or CNG instead of diesel fuel.  It is a big change since trash trucks drive around using a lot of fuel.

Compressed natural gas is an alternative fuel that is better for the environment and cheaper than diesel fuel.  Using one CNG garbage truck is like taking 325 cars off the road.

This is Tucson's first CNG-fueled trash truck but in Phoenix they have already made the change in many of their garbage trucks.

Tucson City officials will be going over the big benefits of natural gas and how much money it will save the city.
