TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - A new report from the Violence Policy Center reveals a shocking murder rate for Hispanics.
About 42 percent of Tucson's population is Hispanic and the 2010 U.S. Census Bureau reports almost 30 percent of Arizonans are Hispanic.
Some points from the report include:
- The murder rate for Hispanics across the country is more than double the murder rate for Whites.
- Homicide is the second main cause of death for Hispanics ages 15 to 24.
- Hispanics are more likely to be killed by a stranger than others in the country.
- More than 2/3 of all Hispanic murder victims are killed by guns.
