TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - Calling all quilters. This weekend is the 37th annual quilt show, aptly titled 'Quilt Fiesta'. This annual event showcases local quilter's talents, with more than 300 quilts on display and 60 vendor booths open during the event.
The Tucson Quilters Guild has over 500 members and is considered one of the country's oldest quilt guilds. The group meets on a monthly basis, often bringing in national speakers and teachers.
According to a recent release on the show, it will feature quilt categories like traditional forms, Art Quilts, and one-of-a-kind fiber art pieces.
Members have the option to have their quilts judged and vie for a ribbon or not. Visitors to the event may also vote on their favorite quilt, placing it in contention for the Viewer's Choice award.
Featured speaker for this year's event is Becky Goldsmith, an internationally known applique artist, teacher and author from Texas.
Proceeds from the daily silent auction of small quilts, which were made and donated by guild members, will go to Tucson Meals on Wheels.
One lucky visitor to the Quilt Fiesta could win a Star Connection (a bed-sized quilt), simply by purchasing a raffle ticket.
