PHOENIX (Tucson News Now) - He wasn't meant to be the closer but he's doing one heck of a job.
Brad Ziegler notched his 15th straight save on Sunday in the Diamondbacks 3-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. His 17 saves this season are the most in his career.
The righty-sidearm pitcher has blown just one save since being given the role by manager Chip Hale in mid-May.
Ziegler took over for a struggling Addison Reed who has sent down to Triple-A. He had 13 saves in 2013 for the Diamondbacks when he made a career-high 78 appearances.
The 35-year old, who is in his 5th season with Arizona, has a 1.21 ERA in 44 appearances this season.
