TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The Tucson Saguaros will play for the Pecos League Championship in just their first season.
They earned the right by topping Roswell 4-1 Saturday night at Kino Stadium to win the best-of-three South Division Championship series, 2-1.
Four Tucson pitchers limited the Invaders to just five hits. Cameron Cox got the win with Tyler Herr picking up his fourth save of the season.
The Saguaros started fast by scoring two runs in the first inning and then added single runs in the fifth and sixth.
Roswell didn't break onto the scoreboard until the 7th inning, and despite having runners on in the 8th and 9th were unable to break through again.
The North Division winner was the Trinidad (CO) Triggers. They took two-of-three from Garden City (KS).
The opening game of the championship series will be Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Kino Stadium.
