U of A issues fraud warning for Tucson residents

TUCSON, AZ (Tucson News Now) - The University of Arizona has issued a fraud alert for Tucson, after residents in Oro Valley and midtown Tucson near Reid Park report encounters with people posing as students and soliciting money.

According to a UA news release, the students claim they are asking for money for an UA journalism internship with the BBC in London.

These people are not affiliated with the School of Journalism, nor is the university conducting fundraising to send students abroad, according to UA officials.

Law enforcement is encouraging the public to call 911 to report any suspicious activity.
