UPDATE: Mom arrested in death of infant, released into custody of parents
TUCSON, AZ (KOLD News 13) - Breanna Henson made her initial appearance in video court on Thursday night, Jan. 24.
The judge ordered that she be released into the supervised custody of her parents, who along with other family members were in video court. Henson appeared visibly upset and cried during the proceedings.
She is also not allowed any contact with minors, or unsupervised contact with minors.
Henson was booked into the Pima County Jail on Thursday on one count of child abuse. Her next court date is set for Feb. 13.
Sgt. Pete Dugan of the Tucson Police Department said Henson was arrested after her infant daughter was found dead on the southeast side of Tucson.
Henson’s 8-month-old daughter Patricia was found dead in a home in the 7700 block of East Apple Tree Drive early Thursday, Jan. 24. The house is near Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.
Dugan said the child had puncture wounds and scratches on her body. He also noted that a dog was found in the home and the child’s injuries were consistent with injuries that could be caused by a dog.
Dugan said Breanna Henson was extremely intoxicated when officers arrived at the home.
An autopsy was scheduled for Friday morning, Jan. 25, according to Dugan. The dog was taken by Pima County Animal Control and it will be tested.
Dugan did not specify what kind of breed the dog was.
This is an ongoing investigation.
