TUCSON, AZ (KOLD News 13) - Stationed at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base with three kids, Staff Sargent Christian Hunt often has his hands full.
"They keep me busy," Hunt said, surrounded by his three children.
Recently, Hunt and his family have been going through some hard times. Hunt is back in Tucson for the second time from Japan.
The four of them spent their Saturday morning picking out a table for their home. But, they were about to be surprised with much more.
As they looked around the furniture store, they were greeted by members of the Arizona Cardinals team - including Darius Philon and Big Red, himself.
"I didn't know what was going on at first so it was cool to see them," said Hunt.
It was soon after Hunt was told he'd be receiving a truckload of furniture to fill his new home, and a check to help with bills.
It was all made possible by Wish for Our Heroes, a national non-profit.
Ken Holmes is in charge of the Tucson chapter and finds joy in helping people like Staff Sgt. Hunt.
"I never served in the military, but I always wanted to give back," said Holmes. "Being able to volunteer my time feels great."
Plenty of photos commemorated this big moment. Each reactions was priceless.
"It's going to help a lot," said Hunt. "It's a life changer for me."
“I love it,” explained Holmes. “That’s the reason why I’m doing this.”
It was a day of nothing but happiness from everyone involved.
Wish for Our Heroes is a national non-profit ... but the Arizona chapter headquartered here in Tucson has been active since 2017.
