Unusual baby shower guest: PCSO deputy who arrested the soon to be mother

PINAL COUNTY, AZ (KOLD News 13) - He might not be what people think of as a typical baby shower guest, but for one woman a Pinal County Sheriff's Office deputy may as well be the guest of honor.

The story began over two years ago on July 12, 2016, when PCSO deputy Dan Campbell arrested Cheyanne. This was not the first time she had been arrested; Cheyanne had been in and out of jail for several years. However, this time was different, Deputy Campbell told Cheyanne this would be the last time he arrested her.

She faced prison time, two years in fact, for burglary, theft and drug possession. While she was being booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center, Cheyanne discovered she was pregnant with her first child.

According to PCSO, she had that child while in DOC custody and it was taken away from her. That was a turning point.

Now out of prison, Cheyanne is leading a new life, away from crime and celebrating the upcoming birth of her second child. She thought it only fitting that she invite Deputy Campbell, the person that made her do the right thing so many years ago.

According to Cheyanne, if it had not been for Deputy Campbell, she would not be where she is today and admits that she likely would have been dead.

PCSO congratulated Cheyanne on her transformation and the upcoming arrival of her daughter.
