Arizona Track sets high marks heading into Pac-12s

Arizona Track ramps up to host conference championships

TUCSON, AZ - Justice Summerset, Karolina Pahlitzsch and James Smith, all set PRs Saturday highlighting the night with all-time Arizona marks at Arizona’s Desert Heat Classic.

Summerset set a PR in the high jump with a clearance of 2.25m (7-4.5) to win the event.

His clearance is good for the No.5 mark in Arizona school history and is the second-best jump in NCAA Division I this season.

Smith clocked a time of 50.11 in the 400-meter hurdles to set a new PR and improve on his Arizona Freshman Record.

Pahlitzsch clocked a time of 57.43 to win the event, set a new PR and registered the No. 6 mark on the NCAA list.

Sophomore Jordan Geist won the discus throw with a season-best toss of 56.08m (184-0). He also finished as the top collegiate competitor in the shot put with a mark of 21.07m (69-1.5).

Senior Tatum Waggoner clocked a season-best time of 52.72 in the 400m to win her final regular-season race at Roy P. Drachman Stadium.

Up next, the Cats will host the Pac-12 Multi-Events Championships beginning on Saturday, May 4 at Roy P. Drachman Stadium following by Pac-12 Championships the following weekend on May 11 and 12.
