TUCSON, AZ (KOLD News 13) - The two people accused of killing a Tucson woman last week have been arrested.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department said Shane Martin and Marietta Hope Keeter were found in the 700 block of East Benson Highway around noon Wednesday, May 1.
Both were booked into the Pima County Jail on first-degree murder charges. They are both being held on $1 million bonds.
The PCSD said Martin and Keeter killed Martin’s mother, 73-year-old Julia Rankin.
Rankin was found dead in her home in the 4200 block of East Dover Stravenue Friday, April 26.
According to Arkansas court records, Martin has an extensive criminal record and is a registered sex offender.
One of Rankin’s neighbors told KOLD News 13 they saw a U-Haul in front of Rankin’s house for a few days before her body was found. The neighbor said they saw Keeter load items into the trailer.
Another neighbor said they noticed water running from inside the home so they called the Tucson Water Department. When no one answered the door, the neighbor said Tucson Water Department called PCSD.
