Game and Fish catching fishing violators

TUCSON, AZ (KOLD News 13) - Arizona Game and Fish is reminding anglers to not break the rules and make sure they have their fishing license.

Game and Fish went on two patrols during the month of April. Officers went to the community lakes to see if people are following the rules of fishing. In the first sweep at the beginning of the month, officers handed out 12 citations. One person was arrested for a felony warrant.

A Game and Fish representative said the second patrol was towards the end of the month. In this patrol, officers made contact with 156 anglers and gave 15 of them citations. The most common violations were fishing without a license, exceeding the bag limit, and having more than two poles.

Fines for violating the rules could cost a violator up $750. A fishing license for an Arizona resident is $37.
