TUCSON, AZ (KOLD News 13) - A man was killed in a shooting that happened near 29th Street and Columbus Avenue early on Thursday, May 2.

According to police, 39-year-old Ryan Hercher was shot during an altercation with another man at about 1:20 a.m. in the parking lot of Las Casitas Village apartment complex, 4100 E. 29th Street. Police found Hercher just west of the apartment complex, lying on the ground next to his car. He had driven across South Irving Avenue after being shot, but his car struck a wall and came to a stop where police found him.

Despite suffering from a gunshot wound, Hercher was alert and talking with officers who rendered aid until paramedics from the Tucson Fire Department arrived.

No one has been arrested or detained. Police want anyone with information to call 911 or 88-CRIME.

Police received multiple calls reporting shots fired, then a call from a woman reporting that her boyfriend had been shot.

Police say Hercher and his girlfriend were at the apartment complex, but they are not residents there.

Paramedics took Hercher to Banner-University Medical Center, where he died shortly after arrival.
