TUCSON, AZ (KOLD News 13) - At Ingles Florists, Mother’s Day is one of the busiest times of year.
“We take a week prior to prep,” said Nyla Contreras, Ingles Florists office manager.
They ordered thousands of flowers for more than 900 orders throughout the week. Florists, like Patrick Love, have been putting in the hours to make moms’ dreams come true for their special day.
“You know that Friday is going to blow up, Saturday is going to be a mess, Sunday usually calms down,” said Love.
Love has been in the business for 30 years, starting at Ingles taking a class.
“It is fun sometimes, during the holidays, not so much,” said Love.
The stress and hours can be worth it, however, to put a smile on someone’s face. Aiden Rogers was buying flowers for his grandma on Sunday, mom and dad in tow after a Mother’s Day brunch.
“She takes care of me,” said seven-year-old Rogers of his mom.
The National Retail Federation estimates people will spend about $25 Billion on moms this year, at about $196 each. This year is a 16-year high since the federation started keeping track.
