TUCSON, AZ (KOLD News 13) - For the first time, the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System is taking part in National Prevention Week.
The week is dedicated to disorders and addiction, and each day this week the medical staff will address a different issue.
The first day will focus on opioids. The staff at the VA will talk about prevention and ways veterans can get help.
According to the VA, there are between 500 and 600 patients getting help for an opioid disorder.
In the past two years, the VA has handed out 2,601 Narcan kits to veterans.
The group believes there are more veterans that they can help.
