TUCSON, AZ (KOLD News 13) - Tucson city leaders and Scottsdale developer Caliber are expected to break ground on a hotel at the Tucson Convention Center on Monday, May 13.
It's a moment a long time in the making as talks of a hotel attached to the TCC to support big events like the gem show have been going on for years.
According to the Rio Nuevo Board’s website, the DoubleTree property would have 170 rooms and would be located on the east side of the convention center. There is no word on a timeline for the project.
In March, the board also approved a 350-spot parking garage for the TCC. The groundbreaking ceremony begins at 10 a.m.
