NOGALES, AZ (KOLD News 13) - We met Roman Trujillo in February last year in Nogales at a very low point in his life. The Le Cordon Blue-trained chef had lost $8,000 dollars in a scam.
He was running his 1970s-vintage food truck Charisma Catering off of Grand Avenue. Trujillo wanted to upgraded because his business was expanding and found a deal on Craigslist for a food truck.
Trujillo talked with the owner and the person told him to put the money in a Wells Fargo account. He did and has not seen the money since. The money gone his hopes for a new truck smashed.
Fast forward more than a year. Trujillo finally has something to smile about.
He persevered and his mental drive helped him open a restaurant last week near downtown. Charisma Eatery offers customers a mixed selection, from burgers to burritos.
Trujillo said last year was a tough one for him and his family. He didn’t want to give up on his dream and set a bad example for his kids.
