TUCSON, AZ (KOLD News 13) - The University of Arizona is working on ways to improve the Amphi neighborhood.
Sociology students just completed a course aimed at coming up with ideas that could potentially be put in place to bring changes.
The students worked with Habitat for Humanity using research gathered last semester.
Last week, they presented the ideas to city and community leaders. They included a community garden, a neighborhood clean-up plan and family-friendly events like sports.
People living in the Amphi area think the ideas are a step in the right direction.
“If the place is good, everyone is going to be comfortable to come to our neighborhood. The more dangerous the neighborhood looks, the more people are scared," said Evelyn Gwion.
The professor leading the course said they plan to continue on these efforts next semester.
