TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Interstate 10 eastbound was blocked in Marana for a short time Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 17, because of a police chase.
According to several witnesses, Arizona Department of Public Safety troopers and police from the Casa Grande and Marana police departments were trying to stop a red vehicle.
CGPD attempted a traffic stop near Milepost 206 eastbound. The driver’s speed was around 65 mph in the passing lane, when the posted speed was 75 mph.
The driver did not stop for police CGPD said, and that’s when DPS got involved. The driver slowed to about 35 mph and eventually stopped.
The vehicle was stopped about a mile from the Avra Valley Road exit and the driver was taken into custody.
A DPS representative told KOLD News 13 it was assisting the Casa Grande Police Department. Marana police said the incident did not begin in their area, but they were helping with traffic control.
