TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Detectives with the Tucson Police Department arrested two young men in connection to the murder of David Ruggiero. The 17-year-old was found dead on the east side on Wednesday, Nov. 20.
Police arrested 17-year-old Jonathan O. Gallardo and 22-year-old Jose Manuel Aguirre, according to a press release from TPD. Police first arrested Aguirre on Friday, Dec. 6, then Gallardo on Friday, Dec. 20. Both were booked into the Pima County Jail and face multiple charges including first-degree murder, armed robbery, aggravated robbery, kidnapping and weapons offenses, according to the release.
The two are also thought to be involved in another shooting that happened the same night Ruggiero was killed, according to police. The man survived and his injuries were listed as non-life-threatening.
The investigation began early Wednesday, Nov. 20 after Ruggiero’s mother said the boy was last seen at 1:30 a.m. and hadn’t heard from him since 4 a.m. that morning. Later that morning, police responded to a shooting at the Las Colinas condominiums, located on the 1600 block of north Wilmot Road, at 5:20 a.m.
There, police discovered Ruggiero’s body. The 17-year-old victim wouldn’t be identified until Friday, Nov. 22.
