Ex-Wildcat Sterling Lewis dies at 32

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Sterling Lewis, a former University of Arizona football player, has died from valley fever, according to a report in the Arizona Daily Star. He was 32.

Lewis played linebacker for the Wildcats from 2008 to 2009 under then-coach Mike Stoops. He transferred to Arizona from Blinn College in Texas.

Current Wildcats head coach, Kevin Sumlin, released the following statement on Lewis:

“The Arizona Football Family is deeply saddened by the passing of Sterling Lewis. The entire football program would like to extend our deepest sympathies to Sterling’s family and friends. His contagious passion, energy and enthusiasm will be missed.”

Lewis is survived by his wife and two children.
