TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Seventy-three people were forced to relocate after a fire destroyed their apartment building on Monday, June 15.
Firefighters from multiple agencies were called to the three-alarm fire at the Spanish Trail Suites, 305 E. Benson Highway, at about 7 p.m.
According to Southern Arizona Chapter of the American Red Cross, volunteers with the Disaster Action Team and Executive Director Courtney Slanaker arrived at about 9:30 p.m. to assess the situation and assist the displaced residents with their emergency needs.
Twenty-six units and 62 firefighters from TFD, South Tucson Fire and Northwest Fire District responded to the scene. Four ladder trucks and seven engines attacked the fire as it spread to nearby abandoned buildings.
The fire was under control two hours, 44 minutes after the first crews arrived.
No injuries were reported.
The origin and cause of the fire is under investigation. Damages have not been determined.
