TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Deputies with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office arrested 22-year-old Isaiah Lapre for a random attack that left one man dead in Guadalupe on Saturday, Jan. 2, 2020.
Sheriff’s deputies were called about a man “stabbing” tires, according to a report from AZ Family. A few minutes after those calls, more people called authorities saying the same man stabbed someone and took off.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they found a man lying on the ground with a stab wound in his neck. After paramedics arrived, the victim died at the scene.
A witness told deputies the suspect was a man named Isaiah and that he frequented the area of the stabbing, AZ Family reports. Investigators recognized the name and the man and found him with blood on his hand and clothing.
Surveillance video shows a suspect who matches Lapre’s description watch the victim walk down the street then stab him.
When questioned about the crime, Lapre told deputies he didn’t know the victim and that he wanted to start some sort of confrontation with him, AZ Family reports.
Lapre was booked into the county jail on first-degree murder and tampering with evidence.
