TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Tucson police have identified the man who died in an early morning crash at a midtown intersection on Monday, Jan. 4.

According to police, 29-year-old Johnny J. Rodriquez was the driver of a black 2017 Nissan Rouge involved in a single-vehicle crash just after 5 a.m. in the 3600 block of East Fort Lowell Road, near North Dodge Boulevard.

Detectives and officers determined that Rodriguez was traveling east on Fort Lowell when he crossed over the center lane and began striking several fixed objects on the north side of the roadway. Rodriguez continued across North Dodge Boulevard before coming to a stop west of the intersection.

Excessive speed does appear to be a contributing factor in the collision, police said. The investigation is on-going.
