TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - A security check in the Sky Ranch community leads to the arrest of one woman for aggravated identity theft.
According to a Facebook post, the Marana Police Department was doing security checks on Thursday, Jan. 7 in reference to several reported car burglaries.
During the patrol, officers found a suspicious unoccupied vehicle that was parked outside the main gated entrance. A records check on the vehicle revealed Karla Valdez as the owner of the vehicle.
Officers discovered that Valdez had a history of robbery, credit card fraud, organized retail theft, and other related crimes.
After canvassing the area, officials say they found about eight vehicles that had been “rummaged through.”
Marana PD received help from the Tucson PD K9 Unit and AZ DPS Air Unit to assist with a scout of the area. Ms. Valdez was found hiding in bushes and was arrested without incident.
According to the Facebook post, a search warrant allowed officers to search the suspicious vehicle found in the Sky Ranch community. After the search, officers found enough probable cause to arrest Valdez for aggravated identity theft, burglary, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Evidence was also located connecting Valdez to car burglaries in Oro Valley and unincorporated Pima County.
Valdez was arrested and booked into the Pima County Jail.
