TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - A 24-year-old woman in Peoria has been arrested for riding on the hood of a moving car, while holding a baby.

Peoria police say several people called after they saw the incident at a Walmart parking lot, Tuesday.

Four witnesses said they saw Deleaha Brown-Dawson on the hood of a car with the baby as it circled around the parking lot and then exited onto a nearby surface street.

They also told police the woman jumped off the hood of the car while holding the baby.

Police say after officers arrived, Dawson walked back through the parking lot holding the 1-year-old infant, ignoring officers requests to stop, and went into a bathroom at the Walmart.

After coming out, she told officers she had argued with the driver of the car and was trying to grab her belongings from the vehicle.

Courtroom documents say she also told officers the car was moving at 5 MPH as she traveled through the parking lot, and refused to tell officers who the driver of the vehicle was.

Dawson was arrested and taken to jail, and faces child abuse charges.
