TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Pima County DEQ is asking you to take a break from driving and help our city purify the air.

The organization announced on Twitter the start of the Clean Air Program’s 2021 Drive-less Pledge.

According to the Pima County website, by skipping a trip in your motor vehicle or taking a “no-drive” day each week you can reduce air pollution by more than 1,100 pounds a year, which will help clear the air for everyone.

Healthy air is in our hands, and by choosing to drive less by carpooling, walking, combining errands, taking transit, or riding a bike, we can reduce air pollution. We’ll reap other benefits such as lighter traffic, saving money, reducing stress, meeting new neighbors and friends, and becoming more fit and healthy.

To help inspire residents to bike more, the county is asking people to go on a bicycle tour of murals in Tucson. They have even published a map with some of the best places to visit.

Those who pledge to drive-less in 2021 could win a $100 gift card in the “Healthy Air Is In Our Hands” prize drawing on March 31, 2021, and June 30, 2021.
