Highway officials reopen EB I-10 after deadly incident between Red Rock, Marana

MARANA, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - The eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 were closed for several hours while the Arizona Department of Public Safety investigated a deadly incident.

According to information from the DPS, the incident began around 10:24 p.m. with a traffic stop on Wednesday night, Jan. 13.

One person was detained, another person who had been riding in the vehicle, ran from the stop. The subject ran across the road and was struck by an SUV.

The subject pronounced deceased on the scene and officials are still working to notify the next of kin.

The incident happened at Milepost 232, which is near the Pinal County line.

Officials reopened the highway shortly before 7 a.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
