UPDATE: Authorities identify driver who died in four-vehicle crash on Ajo Highway

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - The Arizona Department of Public Safety has released new information about a fatal crash that happened on the Ajo Highway east of Three Points.

One man, 41-year-old Rudolfo Fuentes of Tucson, died in the crash on State Route 86 that happened at 4:13 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16.

According to information from DPS, Fuentes was driving east in a Mazda pickup when he attempted to pass several vehicles in a no-passing zone at Milepost 158.8.

Fuentes sideswiped a westbound pickup before striking a Silverado pickup head-on. The Silverado was pushed into a Toyota Camry.

Two occupants of the Silverado were taken to a hospital where they are still being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Investigators suspect that Fuentes was impaired at the time of the crash.
