TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Twitter is firing back at Arizona State Representative Mark Finchem for his comments about boycotting a major chain of resorts.
Loews Hotels are backing out on plans to host a fundraiser for Republican Senator Josh Hawley next month. On Saturday, Jan. 16, the company didn’t mention the senator by name, however, it says the company opposes anyone who supported the storming of the Capitol.
Hawley’s PAC was planning a Valentine’s Day weekend event at the chain’s spot in Orlando.
On Sunday, Jan. 18, Rep. Finchem, who was also at the Capitol, tweeted Loews has permanently lost his business.
He goes on to compare the events to what Hitler and Stalin did during the Holocaust saying “what’s next camps? ovens?”
Finchem says “patriots you might want to cancel your reservations.”
Loews Ventana Resort is in the Finchem’s district.
The KOLD Newsroom reached out to Rep. Finchem, however, he was unable to comment on his tweets because of an investigation surrounding the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol riots. Below is the statement he provided:
“Due to a complaint that has been filed by House and Senate Democrats with the US Department of Justice and the FBI, there will be no comments until the investigation that may arise is concluded.”
We will continue to follow this story.
