TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Some frontline healthcare workers are breathing a sigh of relief as they will soon get childcare help.
TMC HealthCare is working on an innovative learning center that will provide a safe, secure and COVID-19-aware educational environment for children. The center will be based on the Higher Ground system Restart SMART (Stronger, Mindful, Agile and Aware, Resilient and Trauma-Responsive). Officials say the partnership will provide a higher level of employee peace-of-mind during the pandemic.
Academic support takes place in an on-campus location so students can focus on their schoolwork while they receive the support they need during these challenging times.
“Like so many families, our staff are juggling work and home schooling – and we decided to do something about it,” said Judy Rich, president and CEO of TMC HealthCare. “By partnering with Higher Ground, we have created a distance learning center on our campus for staff. This allows them to focus on work while they are working and focus on their families when at home.”
Higher Ground center will be open Monday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
“As a mother, Higher Ground has provided me the peace of mind that my children are being given quality distance learning guidance in a secure environment when I am not able to do so myself,” said Heather Jankowski, head of infection prevention at TMC and mother of two kids in the facility.
The cost for a family is $15 per day and includes the use of a private indoor learning area as well as a secure outdoor area. Children also receive lunch and snacks daily.
At this time, the program is being piloted through May of 2021.
