TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - A young child died in a crash involving a cow in Cochise County late Monday, Feb. 8.

The Cochise County Sheriff’s Office said a van was traveling on US 191 near Pearce when it hit a cow that was in the road.

The van then hit a vehicle that was traveling in the positive direction.

A 4-year-old in the vehicle suffered fatal injuries and died at a local hospital. The drive of the van suffered injuries that were not life threatening.

It was the first of two crashes involving a cow in southern Arizona in less than 48 hours. Wednesday morning, a truck hit a cow near the intersection of Wentworth and Andrada roads.
