TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - One person has died following a shooting on the south side over the weekend.

On February 21, 2021, just after 7:15 p.m., officers from Operations Division South were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the 5900 block of S. Park Ave. Upon arrival, officers located three adult males with obvious signs of gunshot trauma. Officers immediately began rendering aid with the use of their Individual First Aid Kits (IFAK).

Tucson Fire personnel arrived to the scene and transported two victims to Banner University Medical Center, one with life-threatening injuries and the other with serious injuries. The third male succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased at the scene. He has been identified as 21-year-old Edsel Cecena-Marquez. Next of kin has been notified.

Detectives from the Homicide Unit were notified and responded to continue the investigation. Several interviews were conducted and evidence was recovered at the scene. Detectives believe Mr. Marquez and one of the other victims were involved in an argument with the third victim. Officers say the argument turned into a physical altercation and shots were fired.
