Border Patrol agents apprehend convicted rapist

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Yuma Sector Border Patrol agents arrested a convicted rapist who illegally entered the United States on Monday, Mar. 15.

According to a news release, 54-year-old Aurelio Sandoval-Valdivia was found among a group of 18 people. Agents assigned to the Yuma station found the group around 11;30 p.m. near Andrade, California.

A records check revealed Sandoval-Valdivia had a felony conviction for rape, and misdemeanor convictions for willful cruelty to a child and driving while intoxicated. Officials also learned he was previously deported from the U.S.

The release states the Mexican national was processed according to CBP guidelines.
