Diamondbacks announce safety precautions before Opening Day

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Opening Day for the Arizona Diamondbacks is right around the corner and fans haven’t been inside Chase Field in almost 2 years.

Now, they’re opening the gates and a lot is being put into place for their return.

Capacity has been updated to 20,000 fans, which is a bit under 50% of the stadium. Originally only 25% was approved for attendance.

Officials say zip-ties have been added to seats that will not be used.

Social distancing is key and the team has placed reminders on monitors and stickers on the floor to get the message across.

To help reduce crowds at concession stands, Diamondbacks are teaming up with the MLB ballpark app to pre-order your food and purchase tickets. It’s all in the effort to make your experience touch-free.

Guest also have to use clear bags and wearing masks throughout the game.

Because of the clear bag policy, they’ve added lockers outside the stadium to help with any items not allowed inside.

If you plan to attend, please don’t forget your mask and if you do, you can get your official Diamondbacks mask at the team store.

Diamondbacks season home opener is set for April 9th against the Cincinnati Reds. Tickets go on sale Friday at 9am.
