Tucson teen charged for shooting death of another boy

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - A 15-year-old boy was charged Tuesday for the death of another boy earlier this week.

Officers with the Tucson Police Department responded to shots fired at a home on the 4400 block of south Fourth Avenue on Monday, April 19, 2021, at around 11:20 a.m. That’s where they found 16-year-old Carlos Chavarria Gonzalez shot to death.

Through their investigation, detectives discovered Gonzalez and two of his friends were outside a home when one of the friends started “manipulating” a handgun. The gun discharged and a bullet fatally hit Gonzalez.

Authorities charged a 15-year-old boy with one count of negligent homicide for the other boy’s death.

Detectives are continuing their investigation. Anyone with information can call 88-CRIME.
